Welcome to Benton County Fire Protection District #2
Proudly Serving Southeastern Washington Since 1949
Benton County Fire Protection District #2 is located in the southeastern region of Washington State, proudly serving the City of Benton City and its surrounding rural areas. The District was officially established on April 25, 1949, built on the dedication and hard work of local citizens who volunteered their time to protect their neighbors—without compensation. Under the leadership of then-Fire Chief Francis Dvorak, the district steadily expanded its capabilities and commitment to the community. In 1959, a separate ambulance district was created under the same name to meet the area’s growing emergency medical needs. Although it operates independently for budgetary purposes, it shares the Fire District’s mission of public service.
Today, Benton County Fire District #2 provides emergency services to approximately 10,000 residents across 88 square miles. The District operates from two stations: Headquarters Station 210, located at 1304 Dale Avenue in Benton City, WA and a satellite station at 49504 Whitmore PRNW, Benton City, WA.
Our personnel is a combination of career and volunteer members, including 40 volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics, along with 9 resident firefighters, 7 full-time career staff, and 12 auxiliary support members. Together, they ensure our district remains ready and responsive to a wide variety of emergencies.
We offer full-service fire and emergency response, including fire suppression, rescue operations, and basic to advanced life support ambulance transport. We are active members of the Regional Tri-County Hazardous Materials Team and the area’s Incident Management Team, and we also contract dive rescue services through the Columbia Basin Dive Rescue Team. In addition, we maintain a dedicated 9-member Water Rescue Team to provide swiftwater and open water response throughout our service area.
