Our Fire District’s Service Area
Benton County Fire Protection District #2 proudly serves the City of Benton City and surrounding rural areas in southeastern Washington State. Our coverage area includes a wide range of properties, including residential homes, commercial buildings, apartment complexes, schools, orchards, vineyards, and agricultural operations, supporting a population of approximately 10,000 residents.
The District provides fire protection across 88 square miles and ambulance/EMS services across 141 square miles. Our two strategically located stations ensure fast, effective response throughout the region.
- The Headquarters Station is located on Dale Avenue in Benton City,
- The Substation is located at Whitmore Road and Corral Creek, just outside city limits.
Both stations were placed to maximize response efficiency and minimize delay in reaching all parts of the District’s jurisdiction.
Insurance Rating (ISO Classification)
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates fire protection capabilities and assigns ratings to help insurance providers assess risk and set premiums. Benton County Fire District #2 has achieved strong ISO ratings, reflecting the District’s investment in infrastructure, training, equipment, and response capabilities.
- Benton City: As of September 1, 2022, the area served within Benton City retains an ISO Class 3 rating, an improvement from Class 5 made in 2016. This rating remains effective for six years.
- Benton County Fire District (outside city limits): ISO Class 4 rating. In 2022, the rating improved from a Class 6 to a Class 4, also effective September 1, 2022, and valid for six years.
