🔔 Smoke Detector Tips
To protect yourself and your family, remember the following:
- Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home.
- Test smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button.
- Replace the batteries twice a year, unless you have 10-year sealed battery alarms.
- Replace smoke alarms every 10 years, or sooner if they are not functioning properly.
- Never disable a smoke alarm—even during cooking. Use an exhaust fan or open a window instead.
- Create and practice a home fire escape plan with all members of your household.
