Todd Dormaier

Position: Assistant Fire Chief, Training Officer
Term: Benton County Fire District 2 Since 2019
DORMAIER

Assistant Chief Dormaier started his career in the Fire Service as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT in 2006, with West Valley Fire Rescue.  As he grew in the fire service, earning an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, he also found a passion for the Training Division and became very active in such.  It was this role that not only gave him the opportunity to give back to the trade but also an opportunity to prepare him for his role as a Training Captain, when he was hired by West Benton Fire Rescue in 2015.  Just three years later, he would assume the role and position of, Captain of Operations.  This opportunity really allowed him to demonstrate his respectable leadership abilities and granted him the opportunity to serve as the Acting Chief at times, for the Department.

Two years later, after Todd and his wife Ashli had their third child, it was decided that family life and priorities were of utmost importance, and the formation of their company, Ridge Top Iron was started.  Leaving WBFR, this new endeavor allowed them more flexibility while raising their three daughters.  However, this didn’t mean the fire service was out of the picture.  Todd joined Benton County Fire Protection District #2 as a Firefighter, May 2019, and was promoted to Lieutenant in May of 2021.  While serving for BCFPD#2, Todd also successfully operated and managed a full-time operation through Ridge Top Iron, fighting State & Federal fires via contracts with the various agencies.

In March of 2022, the job opportunity of Fire Chief with the Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District was posted and through due process and assessment, Todd was humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Umatilla Community, its Citizens, and the members of the Department.

In November of 2022, following Chief Duncan’s retirement notice and Assistant Chief Bates’ promotion to Fire Chief, BCFPD#2 announced the opening of the Assistant Chief position.  Again, through due process and assessment, Todd was very humbled to not only return to the District, but to also continue to serve the Benton City Community, its Citizens, and the members of the Department.  Todd is very involved with all the Divisions within the Department and while he serves as the Department Training Officer, he continues to be eager to learn new things himself, to better serve the community.  Todd along with his wife Ashli, and their three daughters, live here locally.  He takes great pride in serving our community, moving his parents here to the community recently as well.
