Todd Dormaier

Assistant Chief Dormaier started his career in the Fire Service as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT in 2006, with West Valley Fire Rescue. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, while also finding a passion for the Training Division. It was this role that gave him the opportunity to prepare and promote to a Training Captain, when he was hired by West Benton Fire Rescue in 2015. Just a short three years later, he would assume the role and position of, Captain of Operations, functioning as the Operations Captain, and serving as an Acting Chief, allowing him to demonstrate his respectable leadership abilities though a variety of different facets within the fire service.
Todd owns and operates his own personal business, allowing him to keep his pencil sharpened in both his personal and professional endeavors. In late 2019 he left WBFR in order to form a new company, Ridge Top Iron. This also allowed for more flexibility in his personal life while raising his three daughters. Through Ridge Top Iron, Todd successfully operates and manages a full-time operation, fighting State & Federal fires via contracts with the various agencies. With his heart dedicated to the fire service, Todd stayed in the industry, joining us here at Benton County Fire District #2 as a Firefighter, in May 2019, and was promoted to Lieutenant in May of 2021.
In March of 2022, the job opportunity of Fire Chief with the Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District was posted and through a due process, Todd was humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Umatilla Community, its Citizens, and the members of the Department.
In November of 2022, following then, Chief Duncan’s retirement notice, along with Assistant Chief Bates’ promotion to Fire Chief, BCFD#2 announced the opening of the Assistant Chief position. Through another due process and assessment, Todd was very humbled to not only return to BCFD#2, but to also continue to serve the Benton City Community, its Citizens, and the members of the Department. Todd is very involved with all divisions within the Department and continues to be eager to learn new things himself, all with the priority of serving the community. Todd takes great pride in supporting our members to better serve our community, one of which he moved his parents here to join as well.
